Cardinal Engineering Announces Prime Contract Award by NAVSEA

Cardinal Engineering is very pleased to announce the award of a new prime contract by Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) for research and development activities under a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). The scope of this new BAA award is associated with the development of Power Load Modules (PLM) for advanced shipboard electrical power systems.  Work will be performed in Washington, D.C. and Annapolis, MD.  The contract is valued at up to $17.6M over 5 years if all options are executed.

Leveraging the successes of our proven performance in delivering engineering and technical services to the NAVSEA Electric Ships Office, Cardinal will perform requirements definition, systems engineering, design, modeling and simulation, and prototyping focused on development of new electrical interfaces for future ships.  The PLM as described by the Navy for Next Generation Integrated Power Systems (NGIPS) is “a user of electrical power received from one or more Power Distribution functional elements.”  Cardinal will focus on the load interface definition and the provision of specialty power to optimize that load interface.  This interface will support pulsed power weapons and sensors such as radars, lasers, and other advanced mission systems which would benefit from optimized integration with the shipboard power system.

Subcontractors include CDI Marine and Collins Consulting Group.
